it' gonna be a long post so bear with me k..
ydae pastor preached a really good end enlightening sermon on common grace and cultural mandate.. yea common grace, not cheap grace. for ur info, cheap grace means grace which is taken for granted, speaks of blessings all the time, tt if u beccum a christian ur life wld be a bed of roses and tt u can sin willfully-knowing it's wrong but still does it aniwae-yet God will still forgive u..i.e no need for genuine repentence. it's definitely not true k..check ur bible, it says tt there'll be trials and tribulation in this world but fear not for Jesus have overcome the world. Being a christian means tt u can better handle trials n tribulation not tt u won have them anymore get it?..
do u know actually in the past christian popular arts were said to be inferior imitation,sanitized and limited in purpose & content? bcoz christians who made them focus too much on evangelism n worhip tt ppl became turned off by them. ppl r defined by a culture n pastor toks of 3 things bout culture.
1. culture is an integral part of the human soul.
-7needs of human soul
-spirituality,love, self-esteem, knowledge, beauty/asthetic, freedom.
2. God speaks thru culture
-common grace: God speaking thru "common" secular ppl/things etc.. to awake our conscience toward the goodness of God.
that means it's ok to watch good but r-rated movies like saving private ryan or supposedly sensitive movies like da vinci code, harry potter or the devil's advocate. movies tt dwells into the probs n fustrations of life, don be turn off by it, it's ok to watch them.
-Pop culture: advertising, celebrity, music, movies, tv, fashion, sports, arts.
unless u define the culture, other ppl will define it for u. tt's y we shld embrace pop culture not avoid it. of coz i'm toking bout the gd parts of the pop culture, it doesn take a rocket scientist to know which r the bad parts which r the gd parts tt pop culture encompasses rite?..
3. God has given us a cultural mandate.
culture=cultivate
cultural mandate: God's command at creation for humans to create cultures and civilisation.
tt means tt God wans u to be his co-creator, to use the materials He has provided to its fullest potential. not to use nuclear for weapons but for energy, trees for furnitures, papers, herbs for medicine etc...
-redemption: fixing the broken down areas n restoring it baq to its orig purpose.
tt means changing somthing FROM smthg TO another thing.. get it?..

anyway this weekend is a happy one!.. i got my pay ydae,though not the amt tt they promised during the interview, but still thank God for it! and just now went to get my bursary..haha... double happiness ar... but muz pay off all my debts so doubt will have much left also.. but still i'm glad coz finally i don have anymore debts as my burden!! n i tender in my resignation le,so will be outta there on 5 feb.. ya on my bday, stupid eunff to say my resignation will be effective as of jan 5.. -.-but at least i'm off the pirate ship, i'm going to look for my star cruise! hope won get on another pirate ship.. haha.. o ya, i've signed up for kickboxin, gonna be so cool, hope i won feel too out n fufill my new yr resolution!!.. hee..

hey guys, remember i said we should get out of sg and to some island?.. wat do u tink of tioman?.. got ferry from sg,muz go during ur sem break this feb k?! do give some suggestions bout tis trip..
